Har Ki Dun Trek in Garhwal region is an ideal pick for the beginners. The Har Ki Dun trek is one of the most sought-after treks in the Garhwal Himalayas. The valley of Har-ki-Dun is located at the base of Fateh Parvat, at an altitude of 12000ft. The valley offers beautiful views of mountains such as Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Black peak. Golden eagles are found in this region. The accessibility through Govind National Park makes it rich in flora. You can find trees of Bhojpatra, the flower, Bramhakamal. Swargarohini and Jaundar Glacier are in the south-east of this cradle shaped attraction. Given its beauty and moderate difficulty level, this is an ideal trek for experienced as well as novice trekkers.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Dehradun to Sankri

Report our Outdoor Expert at Dehradun railway station at 0615 Hrs and drive towards Sankri. You can have your breakfast at Kempty Fall which is a famous picnic spot and is famous for a waterfall. It’s a picturesque drive to Sankri, you will get fetching views through your window, and the drive will be through Mussoorie, Nainbagh, Damta, Newman, Purola, Mori, Netwar these are beautiful places in the Himalayas. Sankri lies in Govind Wildlife Sanctuary of Uttarkashi district; it is a village with a mini market famous for wooden huts which serve delectable food. Reach Sankri have a glace of snow covered mountains, enjoy the invigorating climate.

Day 3 – Drive from Sankri to Taluka; trek from Taluka to Seema

Have your breakfast and then leave for Taluka by taxi, it is 11 km away from Sankri when you reach there take a short break and start your trek towards Cheludgad, the trail takes you through dense pine forest, varieties of animals live in this region as it is rich in Flora and Fauna. The trail is rough and is not in a very good condition. Dharkot is the last village on trail and Vishkhopri is a meadow with abundant Deodar trees nearby. Start your trek from Dhamtir and follow the route through quaint last village. On the way you will be pleased by the surpassing sow capped mountain views. After ascending trek you will reach the base Vishkhopri. Setup the tents and retire for the night.

Day 4 – Seema to Har-ki-dun

Have your breakfast early at Seema, start your trek with packed lunch to “Har ki Dun” valley or the “The Valley of Gods”. On the trail to Har ki Dun valley you will come across many stream from where you can fill your water bottles, ascend slowly there are number of pine trees on the way. From there the snow-capped mountains glimmer from a distance and attract the eye of visitor, the views from there are fetching and captivating. This area is home to a number of animals and birds, colorful flowers bloom making this place more beautiful; spotting Himalayan birds is a delight as they look adorable. Now, as you go further the climb gets steep when you cross this region you will see Har Ki Dun a field all covered by snow which is divided by Karmanasha stream. This valley looks divine with exotic views and inherent beauty; from there you can have amazing views of mountains standing tall. Swargarohini from here looks the most beautiful. The environment of this place is soothing and peaceful, it is believed that Pandavas ascend to heaven was through this idyllic valley. Your campsite for today is this ideal place; spend your night in the divine aura.

Day 6 – Har-ki-dun to Marinda Lake; Back to HKD

Nothing can be better than a morning in “Har Ki Dun” valley, the views are inexplicable. First ray of sun on the mountains makes this place look like a scenery.  The reflection of sun rays enhances the beauty of “Himalayas” and the greenery is eye pleasing. Have your breakfast and explore this idyllic place, it can be easily explored in 1-2 hours after that spend time in peace there creating memories away from your busy schedule.  You can explore Marinda Lake which is 3 km away from here, trek towards Hata Peak and the meadows with alpine flowers welcome you, and there you can find a rare flower “Brahma Kamal” which is not easily found. After spending good time at the lake walk back to HKD campsite.

 

 Day 7 – Har-ki-dun to Pauni Gharat

Spend some quality time appreciating the sunrise and enchanting view of Swargarohini Peaks from the campsite. From today the trek is actually the return journey. Today we shall retrace the steps through the Oslo village to Pauni Garaat. Here's another chance to relive the moments with the peaceful villagers. Say goodbye to them and the stunning sights around you. Follow the same trail as of earlier and reach the campsite of Pauni Garaat. Enjoy your last few moments of nightlife in the mountains.

Day 8 – Pauni Gharat to Taluka; Drive from Taluka to Sankri

A 5-hour trek to Taluka sets off this morning, climbing down by the familiar trail, stopping at familiar rest points. The car waits at the end of the dirt road to drive back base camp-wards. Pay special attention to descending tactic. Though climbing down accounts for lesser exhaustion, stressing out your soles with big steps is inadvisable. Sankri will arrive at the time for tea.

Day 9 – Sankri to Dehradun

The journey concludes with the 10-hour drive from Sankri to Dehradun. Breakfast and lunch will be on the way. Reaching time at Dehradun station will be 6 pm, suitable for an overnight journey to Delhi.
